Thriva's vegan omega-3 supplements packet

Omega-3 capsules made in the UK

Product Details
Ingredients

All our omega-3 supplements are high quality and non-GMO, with full ingredient traceability within the UK.

Our premium omega-3 supplements come from algae — the same source fish rely on. Our algae is grown in a controlled environment, so it’s free of toxic pollutants like mercury, PCBs, or other heavy metals often found in other brands.

Each capsule contains 612.5 mg of combined EPA, DHA and DPA. That’s the marine form of omega-3 you’ll find in fish and the easiest form for your body to absorb.

I’m happy with the supplements, and I trust Thriva to produce high-quality supplements that contain what they say they do. As a vegan, it can be tricky finding suitable supplements on the high street so Thriva has worked for me so far.

Omega-3 keeps you fighting fit

Our algae-based omega-3 capsules help keep your health in top shape. Your body can’t naturally create omega-3 on its own, so these are an essential plant-based addition to any diet.

Recommended by GPs

“Diets like the Mediterranean diet are linked to an overall healthy lifestyle. This might be due to high levels of omega-3s contained in fish.

Studies show omega-3s benefit your blood pressure and blood lipids. Taking a supplement like Thriva’s omega-3 is a great way to get the most out of these essential nutrients.”

Stop guessing, start tracking your omega-3

Get your levels checked to ensure your omega-3 is where it needs to be. Your blood test results can help you know whether to adjust the dosage of your supplement.

We recommend doing an omega-3 and 6 blood test before and after your first course of supplements to see how your levels change. We’ll send you a 10% discount on your first blood test after you purchase your supplements.

You’ll also get lifestyle advice from one of our GPs on improving or maintaining your omega-3 levels.

What is the correct dosage for this supplement?

Generally, you can take 2 capsules daily with a meal (1225mg). Do not exceed 5000mg a day.

There are no established UK guidelines on how much omega-3 you need in your diet. Most organisations suggest a minimum of 250-500mg of combined EPA and DHA each day for adults.

We recommend taking 2 capsules daily (1225mg) as a dietary supplement of omega-3s. This amount is enough to support normal health.

If your goal is to reduce your triglycerides, you might benefit from taking 4 capsules daily (2450 mg), and if your goal is to maintain a normal blood pressure, you might benefit from taking 5 capsules daily (3062mg).

Our supplements have 2 pure omega-3 algal oil dosages (612.5 mg), made up of:

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA): 375 mg

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA): 187.50 mg

Docosapentaenoic acid (DPA): 50 mg

As omega-3s are a type of unsaturated fat, they can expire more quickly than other supplements. This is partly why we sell our omega-3 in smaller quantities than our other supplements. It also makes the cost more manageable — algal oil is in high demand, making it more expensive to source.

*All dosages are for adults aged 18 years and older.

Can I take this supplement if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Research shows that omega-3, particularly in the form of DHA, is vital for the normal brain and eye development of the foetus and breastfed infants.  They have also been shown to be helpful in preventing preterm birth. Depending on how much omega-3 is obtained from food sources, pregnant women may require an additional supplementation of 250mg of DHA per day.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to your doctor before starting this supplement.

Who should not take this supplement?

Speak to your GP before taking omega-3 supplements if you:

- are on blood-thinning medication (such as Warfarin) or have a bleeding disorder — it's advised to monitor this with blood tests if taking omega 3s

- are taking any antiplatelet medication, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication (such as Naproxen or Ibuprofen)

When and how do I take this supplement?

How frequently you should take this supplement depends on your dosage.

One tablet is 612.5mg.

We recommend 2 tabs (1.2g) a day for dietary supplementation of omegas, but to reduce triglycerides, you might benefit from taking 4 tabs a day (2.4 g), and to maintain a normal blood pressure you might benefit from taking 5 tabs a day (3g).

Do not take more than 5g a day.

You can take them with a meal and water. Space your doses evenly throughout the day. For example, you might take one capsule in the morning and another at night, depending on the dose.

*All dosages are for adults aged 18 years and older.

Safety and side effects

Do not take over 5g (5000mg) a day. Omega-3 supplements might cause diarrhoea or an upset stomach. These side effects are worse at higher doses.

If you find you are experiencing these side effects, try reducing your dose, or try taking a break before gradually reintroducing the supplement.

Very high doses present an increased blood thinning risk, though doses up to 5g (5000mg) are considered safe. If you are concerned you might be experiencing side effects, stop taking this supplement immediately and seek medical advice.

Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet.
