How can an AMH blood test help you?

AMH is a hormone released by your developing egg sacs (ovarian follicles). Your AMH levels are a good indicator of how many eggs you have left — your ovarian reserve.

AMH levels naturally decline with age, usually starting in your mid-20s. Low AMH levels in younger women might indicate lower remaining follicles and a smaller ovarian reserve.

Causes of low AMH levels include:

  • Crohn's Disease
  • rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
  • premature ovarian insufficiency (POI)

An AMH test can’t directly predict your fertility or the time it will take to conceive. But it’s helpful if you’re considering family planning, freezing your eggs, or IVF.

What's included in this blood test?

AMH

AMH is a hormone released by cells in your developing egg sacs (ovarian follicles). The more eggs you have left, the higher the level of AMH in your blood. AMH levels might be able to indicate your ovarian reserve and your remaining fertile years.
