Why do I need to sign up when I order a kit?

We need some basic details off you including an email and password so that our lab can create a patient record and so that we can create an account where we store your results securely.

Where is thriva available?

For now, thriva is available within the UK only. We cannot process international orders.

Are the tests accurate?

We have partnered with the UK's largest private pathology lab who perform the actual tests on blood samples and therefore the results are extremely accurate. The lab is regulated and holds the NHS itself as one of its main clients. View more details

Are thriva tests designed to replace my GP?

No, thriva tests are not designed to replace your GP and you should not be using thriva as a substitute for any blood tests that a doctor has recommended. These tests should be viewed as a general health check and not as a replacement for any medical advice you may currently be receiving or may receive in the future.

How do I pay for my test?

We accept payment by credit or debit card. All payments are encrypted and processed securely over SSL. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Can I purchase a test for someone else?

Your test kit is linked to the details you provide when you sign up so only you will be able to perform the test and access the results. If you would like to purchase a test kit for somebody else, please contact us and we will be able to help.

What information do you need when I order?

We will need some basic information about you such as your name, gender and DOB as well as an email address and password so that you can access your account. There is also a short health questionnaire that you can edit or update at any time which will only be seen by the doctor that analyses your results and can be useful for providing more detailed feedback.

How quickly will I receive my order?

We aim to send out all test kits on the same working day if ordered Mon-Fri before 4pm. Therefore you will usually receive your test kit 1-2 working days after you order.

Do I need to be in to receive my kit through the post?

No, our test kits are designed to fit through your letterbox and do not require a signature on delivery.

Are the tests discrete?

We send out our test kits in plain packaging to protect your privacy just in case you would prefer that people did not know you are performing a test.

How do I perform the test?

All our test kits contain detailed instructions that will guide you through the simple process. Please follow the instructions carefully. The process will be quicker and easier if you do.

Does it hurt?

The lancets included in your kit are designed to make the smallest and most painless prick possible. It is a similar feeling to getting pricked by a rose bush, a sharp pinch for a second or two and that's it. Lots of people don't even feel it and everyone we ask says it was much better than they expected.

What is the best time to take my blood sample?

For best results, it is important that your sample reaches our lab as soon as possible after it is collected. This means it is important to post it within 5 hours of collecting your sample and before the last postbox collection (usually around 5.30pm). Therefore, we recommend that you only collect your sample Monday - Friday before the last post collection.

Who performs the tests on my blood?

We have partnered with The Doctors Laboratory who are one the UK's largest independent pathology lab. They are CPA accredited and process thousands of tests a day.

Do I really need to fill the tube(s)?

Yes please! We need enough blood to ensure that the results are accurate. You need to fill at least up to the upper line on the collection tubes and even higher is better. Don't worry, the tubes are small and only require about 10 drops of blood!

Can I test if I am sick or pregnant?

All of our blood test are safe for pregnant women but you should leave a note in your health profile to notify the doctor who reviews your results. If you are sick, it's probably best to wait until you have recovered to get the best results from your test. If you are seriously ill, you should seek medical attention from your doctor rather than trying to diagnose any problems using a thriva test kit.

Do I need to fast before any of the tests?

No, all of our tests are non-fasting and the accuracy of the results won't be affected by what you have eaten.

How do I receive my results?

You will be notified by email once your results are ready. You can view results on any device by logging into your dashboard online with the email and password you set when you order your first test.

How quickly will I receive my results?

Your results will usually be ready within 2-3 working days of them arriving at our lab. During this time, various tests are run on your sample and once we receive the results from the lab, a doctor will analyse them and provide a report.

Can I show my results to my doctor?

Yes! It can be very useful for your doctor to already have results to look at and this will save everyone time. Any doctor will understand the format of the results so you can either show them on your phone or tablet or print them off.

Are my results easy to understand?

We know a lot of the phrases used and things we test for can be confusing. Along with the results, we provide an easy-to-understand personalised report written by a doctor along with some more information on what each component of the test is and how it relates to your health.

How secure are my results?

We understand that your medical information is extremely private and, therefore, that its security is of the upmost importance. All your results are stored on our servers and we use all the best security and encryption practices to ensure that they are safe. Our team have previously worked in financial technology and so are used to dealing with and securing extremely sensitive information.

Are my results shared with 3rd parties?
